1cm dilated 70% effaced?

Question

So I'm 34 weeks and Today I was checked to see if I had preeclampsia because I have swollen feet & hands and no I don't have anything but nurse said let me check you before you go home! So she checked me and I'm 1cm dilated and 70% effaced? Has anyone had this issue I need to make it at least 2 more weeks! Do you all think I'll deliver soon or what's your stories?

The stats they give you for dilation and effacement really don't mean anything. You could deliver tomorrow or in 2 months. Definitely try to take it easy and stay hydrated, but don't stress bc it's not a real indicator of what's to come.

I wouldn't worry about it. I've known people to be dilated 2cm for the last two months or so, and ended up having their baby late. Just make sure to drink plenty of water and try to stay away from sweets/salty/processed foods for the last couple weeks to keep swelling down. Only time I'd be worried is if you start having regular contractions.

My mom was 5cm dialated for the a month when she was pregnant with me. I wouldn't worry to much but take it easy just in case

With my oldest I was 3cm dilated and 80% effaced for the last 3-4 weeks before I went into labor. You could sit like that for a god while

I was dilated to some degree for an entire month before I had my daughter. At 39 weeks, I was dilated to 5cm and 95% effaced and she still was an born until 40+2.

You can stay dilated at a certain number for weeks. I stayed at 3 for over a month with all 3 of my kiddos.

I was 4cm dilated at 34 weeks (3rd baby), went on maternity leave earlier because of it. Still made it to 38 and 4; and thats with having a history of dilating early. Dilated to 3cm at 36 weeks with first baby (had baby at 39 weeks), cerclage put in at 23 and 6 with 2nd (taken out at 37; baby at 37 and 5). So as you can see you can be dilated for weeks and still make it to due date or even past it, just take easier and stay hydrated.

Did they do a ffn test? It can tell if you are likely to go into preterm labor. I was having 6-8 contractions every 20 mins weeks ago. I'm about 50% thinned out.  The test came back negative and they said not to worry it's just how my body is preparing. Last pregnancy I was contracting like crazy at 34 weeks and way thinned out. He was a week late.

You need to make it further than that hun...Baby is still developing brain and lungs until 39 wks. Cervical exams are unnecessary and increases infection risk...they tell you nothing in the absence of labor.
Drink more water and reduce salty foods to rid yourself of swelling

I am 34w3d and I am 1 cm dilated since last week. My doctor did not say anything and she was not worried about it. She said that the baby would come when he is ready! And she cannot tell if he is coming soon or will wait until my due date which is July, 1
