Tamiflu while pregnant?

I’m a nurse so I understand that sometimes medications are indicated and that the benefits outweigh the risks, but I am 33 weeks and was just prescribed Tamiflu by a midwife (at an OBGyn group) basically as a “just in case” because my husband was having flu symptoms and a fever (103.6 😬). I have cleaned everything, I have masks to wear, and he’s sleeping in a separate room. I just can’t get over being nervous about taking a Category C drug but I know that getting the flu would be awful! Does anyone have experience with a situation like this?

Dr gave it to me as preventive because 3 of my 4 kids had the flu. I was at 32 weeks then and was scared so I didn’t even open the box. I cleaned everything and thankfully didn’t get it. I’m 36 weeks now.

My husband and daughter both had the flu but I did not take tamiflu. I just kept washing my hands and cleaning everything. I understand your hesitancy to take it!

My 2-year old tested positive for Flu A on Tuesday 😭 Her and I both are now on Tamiful.

I took it last week after testing positive for the flu at 34 weeks. Baby’s heartbeat and activity were good at prenatal appointment on Tuesday.

I took it in my 2nd trimester. I tested negative for the flu but they gave it to me anyway just in case. They said sometimes the test gives false negatives. I had no problems with it.

I don’t have any experience but I would feel a lot better taking it now (in your third trimester) rather than on the beginning when baby is forming! That’s probably why they are more inclined to give it out. I would say wait until you show signs of the flu and then take it because a fever of 103 is not good for anyone especially baby!!! Good luck and I will cross my fingers your don’t get it. 😘😘

My wife and I went through the exact same thing. I got the flu with a 103 fever and we both got Tamiflu. She was put on it once a day and we asked the doctor and the pharmacy multiple times if it was okay for her to take it. Everyone said it was okay. She wound up getting the flu the next day and she moved up to 2x a day and it knocked it out in like a day and a half. She just hit 34 weeks today and there haven’t been any problems.
