Boy Problems

Okay so I sit by this boy in class, and we tease each other, in like a friendly way. I kinda like him now. We always make jokes and make each other laugh. Anyway, whenever I tease him about liking this girl he always says shes ugly, and says he doesn’t like anyone, but I want him to like me and not think of us as a friends. Should I still try and shoot my shot, or should we just be friends?
