I can’t tell if he likes me back

So, I have this friend and we’re pretty close. In the last few weeks I’ve started to grow some feelings for him, and I can’t tell if he likes me back.

He’s really flirty and everyone thinks we’re in a relationship, but I heard that he had a crush on someone else.

I didn’t realize how strongly I felt until a few weeks ago when we were walking to class. I had stopped at my locker and he had gone past me to talk to the girl he supposedly has a crush on.

I’ve also seen the way he looks at her, kind of subtle glances and I’ve been so sad about it. Now I don’t know if I should tell him, he might like her and if he doesn’t like me back I lose a great friend.

I haven’t told anyone and it’s been bothering me like crazy. Some people are starting to notice that somethings off with me, and now I have no clue what to do.
