When the best time to take Maternity leave?

I’m 33 weeks pregnant and I’m now starting to think of when I should take my Maternity leave. I was just wondering when other people think it’s the right time to Start there Maternity leave.

I think it will honestly depend on how you feel, how much time you get after the birth, and whether or not you need the money. I am technically already on maternity leave because I am a teacher and school is out for the summer, but actual leave will not start until school begins in August. If I were having the baby during the school year, I would probably work for as long as possible because my leave is unpaid, and I would need to save whatever I could.

I say till you feel up to it. With my 1st i was scheduled to work up 39wks but my dr pulled me out like 4 days early due to high BP.

I was working and went to the hospital for a ultrasound at 2 and had my son at 5 lol. I worked all the way through until 37 weeks. 🤷‍♀️😅

I planned on working until a week before my due date (my first came two weeks early) but then decided just to work until I go. I figured I wouldn’t enjoy being home and just waiting for it to happen, especially if this one came late. I am hoping he decides to come two weeks early like my first though!

I work with end of life and dementia patients ❤️ I love my job but I’m struggling with the 12hours long shifts and been on my feet for so long. 
I can just say put my own socks on now and having to bend down and get other people dressed (40 people all in one morning) is rather hard. I then have to run around all day doing personal hygiene and lot of other things. 
All of the girls at work keep asking why I’m I not on my maternity leave yet as others who have been pregnant before me have gone off by now. 
I also have orthostatic tachycardia syndrome which is were my blood pressure drops very low and my plus going past 160 and just keeps going and going, I could be sitting down and not even moving and it still happens. 
Really just don’t know what to do because I wanted to work until the very end.
