MRI and piercings?

has anyone with piercings they COULDN'T remove had a MRI scan? I have 5 piercings that can't be removed and have the scan tomorrow. I'm panicking about what to say or do tomorrow and wanted to know if anyone's had this before. I've got 2 nipple, 2 daiths and a tragus that I can't take out.

You cannot wear ANY metal in an MRI. It’s a massive magnet and your piercings will literally be ripped out of your body. And it could damage the MRI too which isn’t good at all either. You need to speak to your doctor or call the hospital where you’re getting the MRI done and ask what you should do. But you can’t have piercings in the MRI. This is a big problem.

The MRI would rip any metal out of your body. You can’t even go in the room with an MRI machine with metal in you. They have to come out.

Why cant you take them out? Just get plastic retainers. Most medical folks don’t even know what kind of metals your piercings consist of and will avoid imaging with expensive equipment and so many liabilities. Any place that does piercings should sell them and will usually help you take them out and put them back in.

If you have implant piercing then you have two choices, take it out, while not pleasant it CAN be done, or not do the MRI. But you cannot do both. Contact your dr ASAP. MRI’s take planning and scheduling, it’s not polite to just show up with the bad news.
