What should I do?

So last year for Valentines Day, I told my boyfriend to not get me anything. And he literally did not get me anything. but I understand that was my fault so I do not blame him but I got him a really nice gift, so it just sucked. But again I blame myself. This year he assumed that we weren't doing gifts again! I tried talking to him about it but he said Valentines day isn't his thing and if I wanted something just tell him. It would be nice if he did something nice. but I guess I'm doomed now. Any suggestions?

The worst thing you can do is play it like you don’t want anything but you secretly do. Most guys are literal so don’t mislead them.  Ask for what you want straight up. ☺️

Meh. You can’t be mad about you telling him not to get you anything and then he didn’t. Valentine’s Day is overrated in my humble opinion and my husband and I don’t even celebrate it anymore. We just celebrate our anniversary instead, which is on 2/2. If you want something... tell him you do.

I just don’t think you should force him. My boyfriend is not about holidays and gift giving. especially Valentine’s Day he could care less about it really. And I’m a person that grew up you get and give gifts and say “happy” whatever... on those days. And for a while it did upset me he wouldn’t do that stuff. But eventually I just let it go. I can’t make him do it if he doesn’t really want to.

If he told you to tell him if you want something, then just tell him! Most guys are pretty straightforward and will appreciate it if you don’t play games and just tell him what you honestly want. They’re not mind readers 🙂

You’re dating a man who doesn’t put a lot of emphasis on gifts, and you’re pissed you don’t get gifts. Even if you tell him to get you something, does it truly mean anything if it was forced?
Sounds like the two of you have totally different love languages.
