Opinions on IUDs for birth control?

Question

I use condoms right now with my boyfriend. But I like to learn towards something more secure so we don’t end up pregnant. 
I hear pros and cons of the IUD. Scary stories... and than thankfully positive ones. 
Any one here have the IUD? Your take on it? / or is there another alternative that’s better then the IUD?
Need advice! 
Also I will be going to my doctor to talk about my options for birth control too. I just like you ladies advice from women who take it or recommend something else.

I love mine! Got it in December and have been singing its praises since. There was some cramping with insertion, but that subdued quickly. My periods got heavier for the first few months (as they're supposed to with a newly-inserted IUD) but things are starting to lighten up now. Even my severe menstrual cramps that would leave me debilitated have gotten better. I love my Kyleena!

I had a Mirena for 2 years. It took my body some time to adjust to the hormones in it, but once it did, I loved it. My period completely went away and never had any issues :) Got it removed and the very next month I got pregnant.

I love mirena after month 4 it got rid of my naturally heavy periods. Only side effect was 2 weeks of bad cramps after getting it. Insertion was like bad cramps. We dont use condoms or pull out I've had it 9 months and love it. I havent had kids.

I love my iud. It hurt a bit to put it in but taking 800 mg of ibuprofen helped me a lot. Also I had virtually no pain after I had mine inserted. If you do decide to get the iud and the doctor recommends you take a cervix softener beforehand I wouldn’t do that. All it does is increase your healing time and there has been a ton of research out recently that says the softener doesn’t even reduce insertion pain.
