How do people manage to be in long distance relationships ? What are tips??

My boyfriend lives 125 miles away. Not as far as some doing long distance but long enough! 
We WhatsApp constantly each day, and spend as much time together as we can when we're together. It's hard but worth it.

My boyfriend lived in Texas our first few months, then he was in Indianapolis for about a year (which is about a 4 1/2 hour drive).  After that he moved here and we have been living in the same spot for about 3 years.  — Constant communication, text/face time/ email.  We both had a habit of sending written letters and small gifts as well to have something tangible from the other more often.  Once he moved to Indy we saw each other at least 2-3 weekends a month, so it wasn’t as horrible as some LDR.  We also did a few vacations to have a larger chunk of time together when we could.
