Do I have to speak to him every day?

I have a guy friend who bugs me to reply to his texts every single day. It’s a platonic relationship and I have a boyfriend myself. I don’t have the time to reply to him all the time. It’s not even relevant conversations. He says that I’m not a loyal friend but I haven’t even spoken to him for the last year since I blocked him for being angry that I do not reply to him fast enough. So after a year of no contact, I gave him a chance to be friends again. And now he’s being faulty and calling me a bad friend for not replying all the time. I have my own life and own issues and I just need space. None of my other friends bug me for replies. Sometimes my other friends ignore me or I ignore them. Ofc we don’t if it’s important but constant texting about random shit when I’m 21 is just not on my list of things to do. How can I make him understand that I’m not obliged to reply??

Just tell him straight up, he’s not the only thing you have in your life and him being manipulative isn’t gonna make you want to talk to him anymore. I honestly wouldn’t even bother explaining that and would just cut off contact but you do you

Just let him know that you have the right to not respond to him whenever you feel like it. You do your best, but you don’t always have time or energy to reply in the amount of time that he finds acceptable. If he can’t handle that about you, then perhaps he should reconsider being friends with you again. He obviously needs someone he can cling to and be enmeshed with and you can’t be that person. As you have your own life to deal with. Friends do not need to be up each others asses every day. Friends are able to give one another space and pick up right where you left off rather than judging each other because of the amount of time it takes to text back. I would never be mad at my friend if she didn’t respond to me for a few days or more even. It’s not that serious. The only time I would ever consider being upset about something like that is if it was something really serious… But in that case, I would not be texting. Honestly, it sounds like he has no life and just expects you to be the center of it. Which any rational person would understand isn’t reasonable at all.
