Favorite insert material?

The microfiber that the diapers came with just aren't cutting it and doubling up makes it way too bulky. I saw hemp inserts at my local baby thrift shop and was wondering if you momma's have any experience with them? I've heard bamboo and charcoal bamboo are really good. What are your favorites? I don't have a ton of money to dish out but I suppose over time I could build up

My gosh, recently switched to bamboo charcoal and it's a whole new world. Great moisture control, and overall performance is better than my regular bamboo (both from the same manufacturer) 
Hemp is great too, but keep in mind some (or all) brands recommend you use a second insert along with it. Because hemp holds more but is slower at absorbing everything.

We use exclusively a hemp/cotton blend. Soft, but absorbent.

I like my bamboo inserts! Or honestly even flour sack towels, cheap and absorbent they do a good job. Charcoal bamboo is just glorified microfiber also.

I find little use for bamboo. I LOVE Hemp and cotton Flour Sack Cloths. Super cheap and amazing.

It has to be a hemp blended with something else... Hemp in itself doesn't suck moisture away fast enough so if the baby pees fast enough and a lot at once, it's not gonna hold. Hemp cotton blends are quite popular if you can find those.
I actually prefer bamboo (i have 4 layers bamboo inserts) or bamboo microfiber combo (2 outer layers bamboo, 2 inner layers microfibre). 
Microfibre sucks in moisture the fastest but it doesnt hold much. Bamboo sucks faster than  hemp, but slower than microfibre, on the other hand it holds more than microfibre but not as much as hemp. 
For first morning diaper i double (my baby holds through the night and pees out A LOT in the morning). I use bamboo on top and hemp on the bottom. Bamboo sucks in the moisture fast and redistributes to hemp under it.
