Will American mass gun shootings ever be a thing of the past

i can’t stop thinking about two words that I have read over and over recently in many gun shooting news articles, those two words continuously said to the American people (from leaders and politicians) “stay safe”, I can’t stop thinking about the 1000’s of gun victims (dead) and wonder how could these victims have made themselves “safer”, so I thought to myself “what were all these victims doing exactly when they were randomly shot dead by a gun shooting?”, and this is what gets me... these poor victims were either/usually attending school, or church, a shopping mall, the cinema, attending a festival or event... all really quite “safe” activities, that ultimately turned out to be fatal activities, how much more safer could these innocent victims have been?

School / education is SACRED, school is always a safe place, but not in America.

OBVIOUSLY there are a whole range of things that could help prevent gun shootings... these include (but not limited to) : better parenting, no racism, much better education and accessibility, more job opportunities etc etc etc BUT... regardless of gun shootings or not these examples just mentioned should always be improving no matter what!!

It’s a NO BRAINER that the most cost effective intervention would be doing something about guns + accessibility. For example... virtually all developed countries in the world 🌎 like the USA also have violent video games + people with mental health issues (depression, anxiety, bipolar, bpd, psychosis, ptsd, ppd etc etc etc). There’s no evidence to show that people in the usa have any more mental health issues, especially violent mental health issues!!! Compared to other developed countries (Europe, England, UK, australia, New Zealand, Japan etc etc etc), USA are just average in terms of non-gun crime/violence.

The ELEPHANT 🐘 in the room is what makes America standout compared to the other developed countries in the world... and that is weak gun laws. GUNS + permissive gun laws are what makes the USA different (and far more dangerous) from France, Italy, the Netherlands, South Korea, Japan, Australia, Germany, UK etc etc etc.

* CONTROVERSIAL QUESTIONS *

note : please refrain from making profoundly stupid and unhelpful comments like “guns don’t kill people, people kill people”, or “spoons cause people to get fat”, or more outrageously “mentally ill people cause gun shootings” (very ignorant and stigmatising!!!!!!!!), these comments are the equivalent of me saying “cars don’t transport people, people transport people” (how ridiculous) so please move along if you don’t have anything of substance + value to add to this conversation, thank you for your understanding in this matter.

Oh and of course BE NICE or LEAVE, that’s just a given!

** WHATS MORE IMPORTANT TO THE AMERICA GOV... current day gun laws (easily buy guns) or keeping their people safe?

** WHAT DOES AMERICA GAIN BY KEEPING THEIR CURRENT DAY WEAK + RELAXED GUN LAWS? what exactly does the government GAIN by keeping the gun laws as is?
