Can Vyvanse for ADHD cause anger outbursts?

My seven year old daughter just started a higher dose of Vyvanse this morning, and when she got off school she seemed so angry and irritated. She’s usually never as angry as she was today. I asked if something happened, but she said no. She was getting mad over the smallest things. Also, her appetite seemed to be completely gone today. And she’s complaining of a headache. ☹️
I really hate that so many adhd medications have such terrible side effects, but without her medication she’s so, so hard to deal with! I feel like I’m at a loss because I truly don’t want to medicate her for it, but I feel like I have to.

My 7 year old has ADHD as well but we refuse to medicate her. There are other ways to manage it. Behavioral therapy and limitations on sweets, artificial dyes, and screen time are all ways to help them with it.

Is that an instant release or extended release medicine? From my experience, instant release caused angry outbursts while extended release did not.

Same thing happened with my son he was 6 at the time. So we lowered the dose and the anger issues stopped but his appetite was completely gone. He lost 10lb which..for an already skinny kid was too much. Tried pediasure twice a day with the medicine and he still didn't gain it back so we got him off the medication.

My nephew (I'm raising him) was the same while on it. I had them give him something different. Hes tried them all it seems. Hes on two different focalin doses and it really seems to help without ad many side effects.

I know a couple kids who used to take vyvanse and they experienced the same things. They were on it for a couple years and the anger issues is the one side effect that has stuck with them even though they have been off it for two years.

Talk to your doctor. I’m a teacher and I see this a lot. Interestingly, I haven’t actually seen that from the child during class but the parents call and ask me about their behavior at home because they are basically mean and aggressive when they get home from school. Perhaps they are trying to suppress it while in school and it all just comes out at home or it has to do with the meds wearing off toward the end of the day before they go home.

I just read online that it causes mood changes in kids, suppresses appetite ( even so much that people take it specifically to lose weight) and that it will stunt your child’s growth. 
Maybe try a different kind?

In all honesty EVERYTHING works/ effects everyone different. (As u may know) But if you are seeing problems with it cut it back some like maybe every other day or see about a lower dose .
