In my opinion no longer than 3 months. If you’re talking and meeting up with them consistently and going on dates etc I’d start to get worried if it goes past 3 months in my experience. 
I met my partner in Dec and we made it official in feb.

3-6 is probation period for me. By then you figure things out. What you can and can’t tolerate. Any baggage. Their intentions. Etc. And if they are a waste of time or you can see more of a future with them. Although you never truly know someone they can always flip the script and surprise you.
