I am 14 weeks and they called me today and told me the finger prick they did came back higher risk for Down syndrome. At first I was really upset, but I know that is still a slim chance. I go back Monday for additional screening (bloodwork). I called today to confirm it wasn’t something they saw on the ultrasound or just the blood and my doctor said the ultrasound was normal. Nasal bone was present, nothing was wrong. Of course as a parent I’m going to be worried until I get my results back, but has anyone been through this? I am very young (23) and have no history in the family, so it surprised me as I was not even worried in the first place. I will also add I know there is nothing wrong with a baby with genetic abnormalities, but as a personal choice I don’t think me and my fiancé could handle having a child with special needs and that’s just the honest truth.

That’s besides the point though.... it seems people get a lot of false positives and the normal ultrasound gave me reassurance, but I won’t know until my labs for this Monday come back . Any similar experiences or advice ?
