Anyone else thinking about quitting work once this baby is born?

This will be baby number 3 for me. I've worked with my first two and have a job where I can work a great deal from home but I think its going to be too hard with 3. In my heart I know I want to stop working for at least a year... I just know my boss is going to be incredibly upset to lose me and that makes this decision, apart from the money,  really hard.

I'm pregnant with my third too. I quit my job as a registered nurse in summer 2018 when I was pregnant with my 2nd. Let me tell you, I was terrified. My husband and I still hadn't figured how we could financially pull it off and my husband was telling me to "just go for it" and "we'll figure it out".... I was like, how the hell can you be so sure lol but we did in fact figure it out and I'm so glad I did just go for it 😁 your babies are only small for such a short time, work will always be there. I feel so lucky that I get to stay home with my girls ❤

I’m a teacher (band director) and I work 50 hours at school on a normal week, with many weeks being 60+ hours at school. I really don’t see that being sustainable once our little one comes next July! Babies don’t stay little forever...

My husband HATES his job and I’ve always wanted to work from home. We’re both thinking of quitting to start a kiln-drying business for wood and hemp before the baby is born. We’re up in Vermont and there’s little to no competition but TONS of demand. Too bad kilns cost more than a car 😂

I’m the bread winner so nope. I will quit my second job waitressing once we get closer to July, but we survive off my salary so there’s no way I can leave my job. I also hold a master’s degree in my field, so I don’t think there’s any way I could switch jobs (I’m a teacher).

I live in Europe and really don't see how the system in the USA works. I can't imagine going back to work that soon after giving birth. 
I can do half a year at a somewhat reduced pay and even after that I get a decent sum, depending on my previous salary and taxes. I can go back when it feels right: I'm not gonna be putting away much into savings while at home, but I'm sure our savings aren't going to take a huge blow either, so the decision will come down to what's good for the kids and if I feel ready.
If not for this, I'd still stay home. It would be tougher building up a sum that could keep us afloat, but manageable. Plus we're lucky that both my husband's and my salary are good enough to support a family.

I quit work as a nurse back in 2017 of September . I've been a SAHM ever since . Definitely something worth thinking about .

I'm glad to see I'm not alone.  I kept my current job because I was working about 20 hour a month but in the last year my hours have ramped up and I'm working closer to 20 hours a week. It's not bad but I don't have any formal childcare and its been getting hard to schedule work. I know in the end I'll be happier stopping for a bit.

I would say try to get a certification for something you can do from home! I only have one child (she’s 5, so it’s early mornings), but I also work 6 days a week (mindfully, I get off at 1am). There are days I wake up and feel like quitting, but I’m at least going to try to work till I can’t because the lack of enough sleep is making my depression bad.
