How did you ask for Birth control?

I want to go on birth control but my mom and I don’t really have an open relationship when it comes to talking about sex. If any of you have any tips or can tell me how you asked your mom that would be great! I am 17 and sexually active btw so it’s kind of important I protect myself.

My mom had NO CLUE that I was having sex. And then I got pregnant and had to go through all the shit with that. I would’ve much rather asked her straight up for birth control and had her been more cautious with me then be pregnant right now lol. Please at least use a condom!

say it’s because it helps with periods, acne, weight, etc. so if you don’t feel comfy telling her you have sex you don’t have to :)

I told my mom when I was 16 that I was having sex (I was having sex at 15) and she immediately put me on bc. Just let her know how you’re feeling and show you are responsible enough to be having sex and tell her you just want to take precaution. If the answer is still no tell her that it can clear out acne, alleviate period cramps, and keep you on a regular cycle.

I would say be straight up with her or tell her you are having bad period cramps because birth control can help with cramps
