Being an option

I'm scared I'm gonna make my new boyfriend treat me like an option and not a priority. I always encourage him to spend time with his friends and ensure him that im alright doing my own thing and I never hold the time he spends with them and not me against him. Even if I super super want him to stay with me I'll tell him its fine because I get that he's his own person and should be able to do what he wants. Problem is though, my ex took that as me never needing him around, needing any sort of attention ever, and never letting me know what was going on so I was always the last one informed of anything. It was a huge part of why we broke up. I get that my current boyfriend is different, I know he is, but im still worried about it. So how do I let him encourage him to be with his friends and do other things without putting myself in last place?
