Is this needy?

Is it needy to ask your boyfriend to describe his feelings for you? We says I love you and are at a healthy place but my love language is words of affirmation and when I send him a paragraph of my feelings he loves it so much but doesn’t do it back and it kinda makes me sad. :( I feel really weird asking for it though. What should I do? I don’t need paragraphs every single day... just maybe once in awhile or if I’m having a bad day or something. To me, it means someone really cares to give you that time and energy and makes me feel really loved.
