Is it normal for first time grandma to obsess over the grandchild?

To the extent to even mock me ( baby's mother) to her and say that I don't know how to do anything ( even trying to make it sound like a joke), watching me breastfeeding my baby since she wants to watch my baby 24*7. My mom did all this and anytime I got annoyed or pissed she would weep saying my dad was a lucky man, he dint have to see me "misbehave" with her ( he passed away 2 years ago)

While it's normal for first timer grandmas to be obsessed this is just straight up rude and super manipulative. It's not helpful and it's not kind. I hope that you are able to voice your feelings to her & she hears you and alters her behavior.

Yup. My grandma did it with her first great grand baby and my mom did cause it was her first grand baby. And my MIL did it because it was her first 😂

My mother in law is kind of like this. She comes over like everyday and is obsessed about babysitting him constantly and it annoys me and she constantly makes comments about how I do stuff with my own son. My husband is a mammas boy too so he never tells her off or tells her we need boundaries but yet if I try and set some then I’m a big bitch. But she has 3 other grandkids but they are older like in their 20s

My mom tries to make me sound stupid with everything my whole life so when I had a baby it was no different. She always says “I know things more than you or the doctors” like ok 🙃

While it is nice to have help and someone who is just as exited I think there still should be some boundaries before it comes to misunderstandings, hurt feelings and so on... 🤷🏻‍♀️

Yep, totally normal... my kids are three and she still to this day makes comments about how I parent and raise my children vs how she raised me and my siblings. Makes my blood boil. But hey what are you gunna do?
