Not a confession or secret just not sure where to ask this lol

So my boyfriend does tree work and sometimes he works in the city. The other day he told me he was working in a park in the city and he found AirPods in the case in the dirt, all dirty. He asked if I wanted them and I was hesitant but he brought them home.

Is the person who owned them able to look for them since the city is like 40+ mins away. I feel bad taking them but he found them randomly, nobody was around and he’s a good person if someone came looking he would give them to whoever it belonged to. I’m just curious if they’re able to track them from so far away from the city vs where I live ? Like do I need to be worried that someone could come track me down lol
