Is anyone else experiencing loose bowels?

I’m currently 38+1. 
Since second trimester I have been really constipated. Going once every 3 days. Nothing seemed to help and this has resulted in pretty horrible piles which I’ve just learnt to live with.
The last few days I’ve started losing pieces of my mucus plug and my bowels have loosened up no end. I’m only going once a day… but that’s more than it has been! Plus I go in 20 seconds not 20 minutes! 
Is this a sign labour is approaching? On a side note my bowels are always like this when I’m on my period… is it related?

Very normal. I'm usually an every 3 day-er but last couple weeks have been multiple times a day. It's your hormones changing for labor.

Yep! I’m normally an every few days person (not fun) and when I go, I’ll go a few times that day or two (also not fun) and then not go again for a few days.  I also have to sit a bit for it to happen/finish🙄 but for the last week or so I’ve been going mostly loose-ish, large amounts, 2-3 times a day, with about a one minute warning before it all starts, ready or not (great when you’re caring for two toddlers all the time!). But I’m trying to let it encourage me rather than discourage ... 37 weeks and baby can come ANY time. Just my body clearing out before labor. Happened with my other 2, to some degree. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I'm 37 and 4 days....the last 2 mornings I've had loose stools....I have been eating dates so that might be the reason so I'm not sure. I'm not going to eat them today to see what happens.

I’m 35 weeks will be 36 weeks on Thursday, I have had it for 6 days now, I’m on iron supplements I don’t know if that has anything to do with it.
