Washing blankets??

So I was today years old when I found out you’re not supposed to wash blankets in a washing machine that has an agitator. Our washer just broke and we got another one that also has an agitator and I’m wondering wtf I’m supposed to do with all our blankets?! Does anyone know??

Well I've always washed my blankets with one in my washer never had an issue I actually just washed 2 today I never knew you weren't supposed to

I’ve always washed my blankets even in top load washers with agitators. You just have to keep in mind how heavy the blankets will be once wet and spinning out so it’s not too much for the washer to handle. I end up just having to put less in, if it’s a really big blanket sometimes I just have to wash it alone 🤷🏻‍♀️

So, it can make it more likely to break over time but you gotta do what you gotta do. I do notice that if I’m washing bedding or blankets and they get disproportionately knocked to one side it’ll stall til I move them mid wash. I was told that above all else, the worst thing you can do to increase the likelihood of your washer breaking is to use fabric softener, scent beads, and all that jazz. It is so hard on your washers and also creates gunk where bacteria will grow and fester in the basin.

Unless it’s a massively heavy blanket or is down, it can go in a regular washer with an agitator.

Yes you can.  I've been doing it for years and who knows how many people before also did before the newer models if washers without agitators became a thing.

I was all my comforters n blankets in the washer but I have a heavy duty setting on mine.
