I have a very very smart 5 yr old but they have adhd and are having a hard time learning to read. They have known all their letter sounds for well over a year but when.it comes to sounding words out gets super anxious and the adhd tendencies kick in hard and they get upset and have a small freak out. We have made it into games or fun and it isnt like we are houdning them or forcing it but they are asking to learn as their favorite thing in the world is books. We.dont have a tv or use screens but check out 100+ books at the library and they want me to read hours a day and they wanna start read to the dogs and can't until they are reading some. So seeing what others have done...and please no programs I have to buy as money is beyond tight right now. Edit****We have done wvery set of the BOB books or similar sets at the library and every garage sale we can find. Not working and gets upset.
