Teaching young boys consent?!!

I feel like we women keep talking about rape culture and how statistically women are more likely to be victims of rape. But I never see conversations about how to educate young boys and teenagers about consent and how they need to respect other people. How can we raise awareness? I want to start teaching my young nephew about consent, so what'sthe best way to do it?

I teach my boy and girl the same. 
They are 2 and 3. We teach the word consent. We tell them they can always say no even to hugs/kisses from family. We remind them to ask before touching others and that that person can say no. We reinforce to respect other’s personal space as well as their own. 
We are going to continue to keep building on this. We are modeling the behavior we want them to learn. We are going to always tell them that their bodies are theirs to love and respect and no one else’s.
It also helps that their pediatrician ALWAYS asks their permission and explains that she’s a doctor and a guardian is present before checking their public region. That helps me reinforce what consent is and I discuss it with them after every appointment. 
I also teach proper terms for their body. We won’t avoid talking about sex no matter the age. If they ask, we talk about in an age appropriate manner. We will always give a straightforward honest answer. No lies or inaccurate response to cause confusion. 
You start young and build on it.

Well idk about other people but I’ve been talking to my three boys about consent and boundaries and respect and shit since like they were 1. And people are having more conversations about this stuff with boys. They have a lot of useful information. But it’s really not hard to teach them to ask hug someone, and it’s not hard for YOU to SHOW them how it works by doing those things as well in front of them. So say you are about to leave their house and you love giving them hugs and kisses before you leave, this time, ask them if they would like a hug or kiss and if not what they would like instead. Teach them everyone deserves space and privacy and respect. And you aren’t to touch other people’s bodies unless they say it’s okay. But honestly most of this should be coming from the parents. Like I don’t know that it’s should be you who first brings up the whole “don’t let anyone touch your penis”. That might be weird coming from an aunt. But also, kids should know the correct names for body parts. No cookies or whatever to call those parts. Penis and vagina and all that are NOT dirty words. Those are what those are named.

My son is 8 and I’ve been teaching him consent since he was 2. We have had numerous conversations about consent and sex. I’ve also spoken to my students about consent. I constantly remind them of it and we have conversations about it.

Well shouldn’t that be something his parents should do not you? You should definitely ask if they are comfortable with you having a talk with him before you insert yourself in that area… if he was you kid psssshhh most definitely speak all day to him…

These conversations are definitely happening. Just talk to him how you would talk to a girl about it. Tell him to keep his hands to himself and to not touch anyone without their permission and to respect the answer no.
