Would you tell your bf you want to exchange a gift for a different size or color?

My bf gets upset if I mention I don’t love a gift he gives me. I just want him to know what I do like for future reference.

When I get it I do not complain it’s days later or weeks usually.

Ex he got me sugar belts for v day and I let him know I’m surprised he didn’t get me chocolate because I love chocolate

He got me a purse satchel but it’s way too big to carry everyday so I want a smaller one so I could use it more

He prefers I don’t tell him when I don’t LOVE something. He says like but ofc I like my gifts I just don’t love them idk I think I’m a picky person

I think it depends on how you go about it. If you're complaining or making unnecessary comments, then yeah that's rude. But if you're telling him you love the style and appreciate the gift but that you'd like to get a different size, I don't see the issue. I guess I could see how it'd look "ungrateful," but I also don't think it's that big of a deal. If it were a shirt in the wrong size, I don't think anyone would say you're being ungrateful or undeserving of the gift for exchanging the same shirt for a different size so you can wear it. It is also important and better for your partner to know your preferences so they don't waste money on things you don't even like. My husband and I personally wouldn't care if we exchanged a gift for a different color or size. I’d prefer he do that than use or wear something he doesn't like. It's not like you're selling the purse or regifting it to someone. My grandma just got a purse for Christmas but it was too big for her. My aunty who got her the purse had no issue taking it back to the store and getting the smaller version. I don't think it necessarily means you're ungratetul.

Instead of telling him, just go exchange it 🤷‍♀️  He doesn’t have to gift you anything. You’re not entitled to gifts.
