IUD, no periods hard to track
Hi there, I’m not sure if anyone was able to give me some advice or pointers! I’ll give a bit of background. 22f.
I’ve been on the pill since I was 15, and just over 3 years ago I had the Mirena coil fitted. I’d not had a proper period in between coming off the pill and having my iud fitted but the doctor said that’s fine, I also didn’t have many periods with the pill/ran packs back to back which doctor recommended due to extreme cramps I used to get which was why I was put on pill in the first place. I had a bit of spotting after fitting but I was also in a lot of pain with it. The spotting stopped and I’ve not had a period since which my doctor said was normal. I went to follow ups and everything was fine. I didn’t think much into it and thought yay still no periods!
However I’ve also been in a serious relationship for the past three years, and have just bought a house together and have made odd comments about our future casually in conversation. I’m not wanting to fall pregnant or anything anytime soon but it just got my brain working.
This has recently had me thinking that 1. I don’t even know if my periods/cycle is normal as I’ve basically been blind to it all for as long as I remember and 2. I’ve recently noticed I’ve been having emotional outbursts every now and again and slight cramping.
I want to start being able to track when I’m ovulating/when my ‘period’ would be if it wasn’t for the coil, just to have a bit of control and also if my mood swings and cramps match up. I feel like this is something I should know how to do but like I said, I’ve never had a steady routine cycle so have no idea where to even begin tracking!
I am planning a doctors trip just for a check up once this pandemic eases, but if anyone has any tips or advice in the meantime I’d be extremely grateful!
Thank you to anyone that’s actually read all this as I’ve ended up writing a mini novel ha ha!
