will I always need medication to conceive?

Hi there

I have recently been diagnosed with pcos after 2 years TTC I have been prescribed metformin. I'm just wondering if I manage to conceive will I need medication to conceive a second child when I'm ready? Would going on birth control after a first baby affect this? If anyone has experience of this it would be appreciated :)
