Clomid in between IVF cycles?

Question

After a failed IVF cycle , my consultant is very negative. I’m 42 and he believes cycle 2 will have the same results. We’ve been trying to conceive for nearly 8 years :( I’m now doing IVF acupuncture and reflexology and taking CoQ10, DHEA, Thyroxine and much more. My consultant advises I “save my money!”... ... I’m thinking about asking if I can do Clomid in between my ivf cycles. But need to find out if this is advisable. Has anyone done this? My consultant will probably say don’t bother you’ve gone past that phase of treatment. I feel helpless. Just need some advice and recommendations. Thankyou

How many eggs did you get last ivf?

It seems like you might want a second opinion. Perhaps a different doctor. Just to see. But how many eggs and how successful the retrieval and things leading up to the transfer matter too. I hope it works for you.

Was informed “he would be surprised if I got more that one follicle” I got three
“You’d be lucky to get one egg” I got two eggs and one follicle was difficult to access so it wasn’t attempted.
My eggs just didn’t fertilise.
He is probably right but I’m just surprised at how blunt he has been.
He also said the only way I can have a family is to have a donor egg. I’m devastated!
